At Ryu’s Martial Arts in Lynbrook, I teach the art and sport of taekwondo to students ages three to eighteen. I have trained at Ryu’s since 2015 and have achieved my 1st degree black belt last year. As Assistant Instructor, my responsibilities include assisting the Head Instructor in class for all activities and lessons; provide one-on-one instruction for individuals, especially for students with special needs; conduct trial lessons for potential students; take students’ attendance; help organize birthday parties; and help maintain the cleanliness of the facility. I have also conducted seminars for Instructors, Assistant Instructors, and ‘staff-in-training’: Junior Leaders. In these seminars I examine and teach basic taekwondo training, how to conduct a trial lesson for prospective students, the responsibilities of a Junior Leader, and how to properly teach and appropriately deal with Tiger Kids (classes of young children, ages 3-5).
