She was busy studying for her classes and had less-than-ideal recording opportunities. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t think that I would win the prize,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you watch her video, in which she reveals the message behind her award-winning slogan, \u201c<em>A vaccine for today is a disease less for tomorrow<\/em>,\u201d you\u2019ll quickly understand why she won.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Giovanna Soto Healthcare Impact Award video\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iBwr-yrnP3k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And here\u2019s Giovanna\u2019s idea pitch in her own words:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhen vaccines were invented and then used regularly in our modern era, it had a huge positive impact, reducing the probabilities of getting sick from a certain number of diseases. But, in recent years, some people have made a campaign trying to stop vaccines, so much so that there are lots of children without them just because their parents think vaccines are bad. There is a difference\u2014vaccines can sometimes have secondary effects, yes, but those cases are really rare and if you weigh the benefits, then it\u2019s a hundred percent better for a child to just take the vaccine. This campaign of no vaccines has made old illnesses arise \u2014 like polio, which was almost eradicated. That\u2019s why <\/em><strong><em>a vaccine for today is a disease less for tomorrow<\/em><\/strong><em>. Thank you for reading! #DHGEScholarship\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As she continues her education in marketing and in healthcare as a whole, Giovanna has big plans for bringing awareness of healthcare methods and shining a light on medical misinformation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would love to work in promoting health and bringing awareness to issues such as STDs. There is a lot of misinformation, starting with where I am from in South America. Here, it\u2019s a taboo; there\u2019s misinformation that people with [STDs] are monsters. They\u2019re not going to transmit these diseases just by touching anyone, but people don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked how the healthcare marketing program might benefit her, Giovanna said, \u201cLife is on social media right now. And, the healthcare marketing certificate will help because the promotion [of modern-day healthcare practices] needs to be present in all the social media.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giovanna\u2019s biggest inspiration also comes from social media. \u201cI think there are a lot of doctors on&nbsp; social media and they do a great job, trying to inform people or teach people the difference between bad decisions and good decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background\"><strong>Related Read<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwall.io\/blog\/save-the-planet-by-sharing-climate-action-ideas\/\">How to Save the Planet by Sharing Ideas on Climate Action<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Healthcare Impact Award<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>DHGE\u2019s Healthcare Impact Award was a second-round following a successful previous scholarship with a $1000 USD prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through a collaboration between DHGE and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bschool.pepperdine.edu\/\">Pepperdine Graziadio Business School<\/a>, the winner of the prize would receive a <strong>full scholarship<\/strong> to their online course for a <a href=\"https:\/\/dhge.org\/our-programs\/healthcare-marketing-certificate-pepperdine-graziadio\/\">Certificate in Healthcare Marketing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 9-week program, worth $2,995 USD, is for healthcare professionals, marketers, and administrators to learn effective, consumer-focused marketing practices to strategically align their organization towards the new health paradigm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Professor Lynda Palmer, MBA, the program curriculum includes marketing strategy, customer assessment, brand development, marketing insights, distribution strategy, and more.
