Bhakti Mukhi's post on Goodwall - 'By Your Side' by Kasie West published on the 31st of January, 2017 is the YA, romance fiction book you need during difficult times. It's an easy read, gives the reader a happy feeling and an effortless book that ends up talking about serious stuff in a simple way which hits just the right chord. I like how the book begins in the first chapter, itself and tells us the story as it develops. I love the way Kasie has addressed an important mental health issue - 'anxiety' and explained it in depth throughout the story then given a boost of confidence to the people going through the same in the acknowledgements. The build-up of the story is just on point, however, the ending feels a little rushed. At some points, the grammar could've been better, according to me. It might seem a little clichéd at some points but it doesn't fail to bring you happiness through those clichés so I'd say it is worth reading. Another thing that I would like to add is I read this book in 2 days after being in a reading slump for more than 2 months so if you're going through the same, this is just what you need to pick up. It's so easy going, the language is simple, the story is welcoming and it will leave you with warmth and content as well as the confidence of still being able to read for people going through reading slumps and questioning their love for reading like me.
