Thus, our objective was to compare different extraction methods to obtain the crude extracts of tahiti lime essential oil, as well as testing it against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The average yield of the crude extract obtained by Soxhlet was 3.61% for isopropanol and by Clevenger distillation, 5,19%. This sample was analyzed by GC-MS, proving the presence of D-limonene, the main responsible for the antibacterial action. The isopropanol extraction sample proved to be approximately three times more effective in this action compared to the tested antibiotics. In addition, this work has great scientific and environmental relevance, seeking alternative treatments for diseases and reuse of plant material residues.
