Gabbie Romano's post on Goodwall - I live in Carrboro, NC and this is my friend, the great blue heron. I take walks at a park here when I’m feeling stressed or distant from myself. Almost every time I go, I see this beautiful bird. As soon as I see her I am struck by a sense of peace and serenity. Just watching her stand or walk gracefully through the waters reminds me of the importance of stillness in my mind & body. I always find others stop and stare too & I think like me they are reminded of the power of nature, & serenity.
