The third son, ancestor of the Maasai, was God's favorite because he gave him a long herder's stick and a rope by which cattle slid down to earth from heaven.Maasai believe in one ominscient god, Enkai (or Nkai). He is represented by two colours red and black. The black god brings rain and thunder to replenish the grazing land. The red god brings lightening which can start wildfires, or strike humans death.
