Ate Philomina's post on Goodwall - This book talks about Kambili a 15 year teenager who's life is over shadowed and controlled by her dad who's religious and moral beliefs lead him to be rather abusive. The book is set in the precolonial era of the Nigerian Igbo society it brings to play various events of the time and it effects on the lives of the people. Kambili a rather shy and conservative is seen to have a "heroine" her aunty who advices to stand up for herself and encourages her to take risks and do as it pleases her.
