Things are looking pretty grim these days, and many of us find ourselves worrying about our job situation.
The coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of companies to go under, stop hiring, or let go of employees, and it’s scary, to say the very least.
Many organizations have maintained their job availability, with some even ramping up during these times.
Here is our list of global companies still hiring despite the COVID-19 pandemic:
1. Amazon (& Whole Foods)
Amazon recently announced that they’re opening up the hiring process to fill 100,000 new positions to meet a surge in demand in online shopping. Also, if you live in the United States, their Amazon Delivers branch can get you a job with a starting pay of $17 or more in as little as 7 days!
Google (now known as Alphabet) has thousands upon thousands of jobs all around the world, and they’re still hiring despite the COVID-19 crisis. They have availability in marketing and communications, business strategy, legal, facilities, design, finance, people operations, and more. For high school and college students, their internship program still exists during coronavirus, it’s just been moved online.
As one of the very rare purple platypus companies (or whatever you call companies valued over $1 trillion), Microsoft is sure to have the job you want, where you want it to be. With greater than 6,500 job options available on their website, they’ve got something for everyone.
Cupertino-based Apple is another one of the great tech companies. As a company founded by Jobs (a pun!), they have plenty. They might have shut down almost all their retail stores around the world, but they’re still hiring otherwise, with employment available in Hong Kong, Austria, the UAE, and other countries.
As one of the “Big Four” accountancy firms in the world, KPMG hasn’t slowed down its hiring much due to coronavirus. In fact, all around the world, they have thousands of openings, including over 500 in the US alone.
Twitter prides itself on many things, from being #fast to being #fun. As a staple means of communication these days, they’ve also not been hurt too badly from the pandemic. They even have a variety of remote jobs available, as well.
The makers of some of the most popular accounting and tax software in the world, Intuit has hundreds of available positions currently in 9 different countries, including the United States, Australia, France, the UK, and Brazil.
8. World Health Organization
The WHO is the most prominent and trusted source of information and research in the fight against the coronavirus. They have dozens of jobs on their website, in countries all around the world, including Ukraine, India, Angola, and in their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland (which is where we’re from!).
Getting a Facebook job would immediately make you the envy of your circle of friends. Luckily, they have more than 3,000 career opportunities to search through on their job portal. You could either work for Facebook itself, or one of its subsidiary companies, such as Instagram or WhatsApp.
Known as “Big Blue,” the International Business Machines Corporation is one of the oldest technology companies in existence. Their job website has over 5,000 openings around the world, from sales to support to development and beyond.
As one of the world’s most admired brand for electronics and household appliances, Samsung needs no introduction. From project managers to data engineers, they’re also hiring right now, with more than 400 jobs available in 30+ countries.
12. JPMorgan Chase
JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the United States, but they have operations all over the planet. As such, they have 3,000+ jobs, from Mumbai to London to Cebu to their New York City headquarters.
Headquartered in New York City, Pfizer is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies on the planet. Their website has over 1,200 career openings worldwide, including in Belgium, Vietnam, South Africa, and Costa Rica.
14. Alibaba Group
One of the world’s top 10 most valuable companies, Alibaba has hundreds of employment openings in China, the US, Singapore, and other countries.
15. Procter & Gamble
Procter & Gamble has their fingers in seemingly every pie out there. As makers of everything from laundry detergent to batteries to cold medicine, you can bet they have just as many jobs available. Their website has 900+ opportunities globally, including such places as Taiwan, Romania, Canada, Serbia, and the United States.
Intel is the world’s largest semiconductor chip manufacturer, and they have more than 1,200 positions open on their website. Job titles include technical interns, OTF device engineers, and validation IP developers, among many others.
The airline and travel industry may have taken a beating thanks to coronavirus, but that hasn’t kept Boeing down. They have 400+ jobs available around the world, including in Germany, Qatar, Russia, Sweden, and China.
Nestlé is a Swiss multinational in the food and beverage industry, and they’re ranked as the largest food company in the world. They have over 2,000 job openings on their website, in such divisions as research and development, supply chain and procurement, marketing, and human resources.
As #30 on the Fortune 500, you can be certain that Citi has job openings available worldwide. The multinational bank has more than 6,000 career opportunities open right now in countries all over, including Hungary, India, Singapore, Indonesia, and at their home in the United States.
Yet another Swiss multinational, this time in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, Novartis has more than 2,400 jobs available in most countries on Earth.
As if we all weren’t already hooked on Netflix enough as it is, coronavirus comes along and forces us to use it even more. Netflix is one of the best workplaces in tech, and they happen to have hundreds of jobs in great cities around the world, including Seoul, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Los Angeles.
22. The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company may have taken a coronavirus hit on its theme park and cruise ship business. However, their digital content and entertainment services carry on. Search their job portal for hundreds of jobs such as marketing manager, cash application analyst, technical director, and others.
Siemens is the largest industrial manufacturing company in Europe, headquartered in Munich, Germany. Their website has a whopping 3,500+ jobs available worldwide, from Amadora to Zug.
Tokyo-based Sony is an entertainment company that does it all, from gaming to electronics to record labels and more. Their website has availability in research, project management, sales and marketing, finance, and others.
AXA is one of the world’s largest insurance and investment management corporations, headquartered in Paris, France. Their job portal has more than 2,000 open job positions available on every continent (except Antarctica, for now).
Unilever is the largest producer of soap in the world, but they also do just about everything else, including energy drinks, ice cream, and household cleaning supplies. From Russia to Honduras to Ethiopia, they have hundreds of openings currently up on their website.
